Alejandro Vega Beuvrin Unveils Monumental Sculpture in Nanjing, China

Nanjing, China

Another Strategic Milestone in His International Public Art Projection

Studio Vega Beuvrin announces the inauguration of a permanent monumental sculpture at T-Center, a large-scale urban development by CITIC Pacific Properties in Nanjing, China.

The project was facilitated and coordinated by Purple Roof Public Art, who acted as strategic intermediaries between the studio, the developer, and the local technical team, ensuring both curatorial coherence and structural integration within a highly complex urban environment.

Located in one of the city’s fastest-growing economic districts, T-Center integrates 5A Grade-A office towers, cultural retail and luxury residential spaces. Within this context, the sculpture was conceived specifically for an outdoor site with significant engineering demands, requiring advanced solutions for stability, wind resistance and foundation integration.

This was not the acquisition of a pre-existing artwork, but a fully integrated commission in which artistic authorship and structural development evolved simultaneously — a model characteristic of major international public art projects.

A Work Rooted in Cultural Memory

Conceptually, the sculpture is inspired by the Plum Blossom (Prunus mume), an iconic flower that blooms in the depths of winter and symbolizes resilience and strength in the face of adversity. Deeply connected to Nanjing’s historical identity, this emblem establishes a direct dialogue between the artwork, the city and its inhabitants.

More than a formal gesture, the piece operates as a symbol of continuity and endurance — qualities that have shaped the cultural evolution of the city throughout its history.

A Turning Point in the Studio’s Trajectory

The inauguration in Nanjing represents a decisive moment in the international evolution of Studio Vega Beuvrin.

This commission consolidates the studio’s practice within the field of large-scale public sculpture in Asia, positioning it within high-end urban developments where art, architecture and engineering operate as part of a unified identity strategy.

The project also establishes a framework for international collaboration that opens new opportunities within the premium real estate sector, where art functions as a structural component of the urban narrative rather than an accessory element.

With this work, Studio Vega Beuvrin strengthens its presence within the global public art circuit and continues expanding the reach of its sculptural language into contexts of maximum technical rigor and symbolic depth.
