Another Strategic Milestone in the Studio’s International Public Art Practice
Vega Beuvrin Studio announces the inauguration of a permanent monumental sculpture at T-Center, a large-scale urban development by CITIC Pacific Properties in Nanjing, China.
The project was facilitated and coordinated by Purple Roof Public Art, acting as strategic intermediary between the studio, the developer and the local technical team — ensuring both curatorial coherence and structural integration within a highly complex urban environment.
Located in one of the city’s fastest-growing economic districts, T-Center brings together Grade A 5A office towers, cultural retail and luxury residential spaces. Within this context, the sculpture was conceived specifically for an exterior site with demanding engineering requirements, calling for advanced solutions in structural stability, wind resistance and foundation integration.
This was not the acquisition of a pre-existing work, but a fully integrated commission in which artistic authorship and structural development evolved simultaneously — a model characteristic of major international public art projects.
A Work Rooted in Cultural Memory
Conceptually, the sculpture draws inspiration from the plum blossom (Prunus mume) — an iconic flower that blooms in the depth of winter and symbolises resilience and strength in the face of adversity. Deeply embedded in Nanjing’s historical identity, this emblem establishes a direct dialogue between the work, the city and its inhabitants.
More than a formal gesture, the piece operates as a symbol of continuity and resistance — qualities that have defined the city’s cultural evolution throughout its history.
A Turning Point in the Studio’s Trajectory
The Nanjing inauguration marks a decisive moment in the international evolution of Vega Beuvrin Studio.
This commission consolidates the studio’s practice in the field of large-scale public sculpture in Asia, placing it within premium urban developments where art, architecture and engineering operate as part of a unified identity strategy.
The project also establishes an international collaboration framework that opens new opportunities in the premium real estate sector — where art functions as a structural component of urban narrative rather than an accessory element.
With this work, Vega Beuvrin Studio reinforces its presence in the international public art circuit and continues expanding the reach of its sculptural language into contexts of the highest technical rigour and symbolic depth.
